Puppy Culture

Picture
I'm excited to introduce you to a program we feel sets our puppies apart and gives them an advantage in life.  Puppy Culture is a program designed for breeders to use with puppies in the first 8-12 weeks of life.  Puppy Culture is geared toward stimulating neurological systems, socializing puppies with other people, animals, objects and places, stimulating their brains by encouraging problem solving, and beginning the process of teaching them how to become polite members of the human world.  We feel that in order to set up a puppy for a future as a well adjusted dog, foundations need to be laid in the very first weeks of life...the time that your puppy in our hands.  That is why we use Puppy Culture to raise our puppies!

Now, we do have to admit...we were a little skeptical of the program at first.  I mean really, what can you do with/for a puppy before they've even opened their eyes, that will help shape their future??  Well, after seeing breeders we trust swear by this program, we decided to go ahead and give it a try.  We were blown away!!  Our first Puppy Culture litter was so much calmer and more attentive to us, even when they were just barely walking!  We thought surely that was just a fluke, but our next litter was the same way.  After our first experience, we were hooked!

Now, though they have great tips for basic training, Puppy Culture is not an obedience course.  It's more of a "building-blocks course".  It focuses more on getting a puppy ready for life, by teaching concepts, rather than focusing on specific commands, like sit and come.  For example, when the puppies turn 4 weeks old, we start introducing clicker training.  We play games with the puppies that are specifically designed to teach the puppy concepts like:  they have an owner, their owner would like them to do something, and they get a yummy reward when they obey.  Once they go home with you, then they can really begin learning basic obedience and tricks --and boy, do they love to learn tricks!  The Puppy Culture protocols we use give them foundations that will help them to go the places you want them to go in life, whether that is serving as a therapy dog, performing in agility competitions, or just being a family companion.

We do not claim to be perfect by any means!  There are exercises we miss.  There are times we don't get everything done on time.  Our puppies go with home with gaps.  However, we are continuing to learn and get better at implementing Puppy Culture protocols as we continue on this journey.  We feel confident that Puppy Culture is a tool that will help you and your new puppy be set up for success from the moment you take him/her home!
